ZIMBABWE
VICTORIA
FALLS
On the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, lies one
of the world’s natural wonders. The Victoria Falls,
the world’s most spectacular waterfall, has been
attracting visitors for over a hundred years, and is
the main tourist destination for both Zimbabwe and Zambia.
The mighty Zambezi River etched breathtaking trenches
into a relatively flat terrain, creating the waterfalls
and some spectacular white water rapids further downstream.
|
Activities
in this area are, white water rafting on the Zambezi
rapids, game viewing in nearby reserves, bungee jumping
for the more adventurous, horse trails up the river
and of course exploring the mighty Victoria Falls on
foot.
Travelers tip: Viewing
the falls from the Zambian side is better, but the accommodation
is somewhat more rustic than on the Zimbabwe side. |

LAKE
KARIBA
One of the largest man-made lakes in the world’
Lake Kariba is 281 km long and 32 km wide at the widest
point. Hippo, crocodile, elephant and other smaller
game can be found on the shores, and on the islands
created when the river was dammed. On the Zimbabwe side,
tourist resorts have been built, and cater for all types.
Activities include boat excursions,
game viewing and fantastic fishing. The stay away months
are October – March as the +40`c temperatures
make life unbearable. |

THE
GREAT ZIMBABWEAN RUINS
Great Zimbabwe is beautifully situated in a
fertile and well-watered valley at the head of the Mutirikwi
River. The main attraction is the great enclosure of
Imba Kuru, with its’ high walls and western like
architecture. The estimated time of construction is
placed at about 1200 AD, and is said to have been built
by the indigenous people of Zimbabwe. The ruins are
a testament to African ingenuity and culture, and are
a real eye-opener. |

| ZAMBIA
LUANGWA
VALLEY
One
of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in Africa
is found in the South Luangwa National Park, in Eastern
Zambia. This vast area of 9050 sq. kilometres forms
part of the great rift valley, with the majestic Luangwa
river meandering its’ way through the centre.
With the high concentration of Nile crocodile, hippo
and, extraordinarily, leopard, game viewing in the park
is truly a wild experience. |
|
| MALAWI
There
is no country in Africa that has its’ geography
so sculptured and determined by Africa’s Great
Rift Valley. Towering mountains, lush fertile valleys
and enormous, crystal clear lakes are the hallmarks
of much of the rift valley. This is what Malawi is all
about. Lake Malawi is 600km long and 80km wide, and
is the life source of this little African country.
Visitors to Lake Malawi will be marveled by its’
enormity and the friendliness of people inhabiting its
shores

Out-Post Safaris can tailor your vacation to
these areas to your requirements. Victoria Falls is
best combined with a Botswana trip, including Chobe
Game Reserve and the Okavango Delta. The Luangwa Valley
and Malawi is also a good combination, but if you let
us know what sort of trip you are looking for, we will
send you an in-depth itinerary with photos and rates
for that time of the year. |
