SOUTH AFRICA

Out-Post Safaris is based in Durban, and offers complete South African tours in conjunction with tour operators based in other parts of South Africa. For a specialized KwaZulu-Natal tour, go to KZN page.

CAPE TOWN
Known as the mother city of South Africa, Cape Town is the cradle of European civilization in Southern Africa. The city has a definite Mediterranean flavour in architecture and lifestyle, along with a strong Dutch, French and English influence.

The imposing presence of Table Mountain is the most dramatic feature of Cape Town, and the view of the Cape peninsular from the top is simply breathtaking.

Places to visit in the city include Robben island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years, the V&A waterfront, Table Mountain, Cape Point Nature Reserve and the numerous secluded white sand beaches, situated all along the peninsular.

WINELANDS
The winelands consists of small clusters of towns, situated in the valleys of the undulating mountain slopes to the east of Cape Town. The most famous of these Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl, with their French-Huguenot culture, will remind you of the vineyards in the south of France.
Day trips to the various wine estates will give you the chance to sample some of South Africa’s best wines in idyllic surroundings.

THE GARDEN ROUTE
As the name suggests, the Garden Route is South Africa’s beauty spot. The route spans 900km, from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town, and is known as the Eden of Africa. Lush vegetation, miles of dramatic ocean seascapes and fresh water lagoons are all part of the attraction, along with the many small towns and villages from a bygone era.

The Tsitsikama National Park deserves a special mention, the huge, dense forests on the coast, almost gives one the impression of being in a prehistoric landscape. The Tsitsikama hiking trail is a must for adventurers.

RAIL JOURNEYS
The Blue Train is world renowned for its luxurious, state-of-the-art, modern comfort. Traveling between Pretoria and Cape Town, the Blue Train will allow you to discover South Africa in 5 star surroundings.

Rovos Rail, a steam train restored to its former glory, takes the passenger back to the turn of the century in colonial Africa. Rovos rail does offer the Pretoria – Cape Town route, but specializes in the Pretoria - Victoria Falls route, which is a breathtaking experience.

KWAZULU - NATAL

The best of South Africa in one province.

Go to our KwaZulu- Natal page, for in-depth information on our beautiful province, as well a specialized KZN itinerary.

MPUMULANGA
The area surrounding the Kruger National Park has some very interesting locations worth visiting as part of your Krugerpark Safari.

The historical gold mining town of Pilgrims Rest is a nostalgic glimpse into the life of the first South African gold rush. The giant potholes in the Blyde River Canyon are formed with the meeting of two rivers, and the swirling debris has etched and impressive sight.

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
One of the biggest natural reserves in the world, the Kruger National Park can boast over a century of nature and game preservation. With its’ typical lowveld (Savannah) landscape, game viewing is easy and plentiful.

Accommodation in the Park can be rustic in one of the Parks Board chalets, or luxurious, in one of the private lodges situated within the boundaries of the Park.

SUN CITY AND THE LOST CITY
Amid the dry unyielding bush veld scrub, the Sun City complex is a man-made fantasy paradise set in a valley of the Pilansberg Mountains.

The most recent development – The Lost City- is centered around a fabricated myth of an ancient civilization, and the ancient looking "ruins" are very convincing, with buildings resembling jungle encroached dwellings.

Features of the complex are huge glittering gambling halls; a massive water theme park and the Gary Player designed Golf course, where the Million-Dollar Challenge is held annually.
